SUPPORT CAROL
In 2001, Carol took a step in faith in heading down to Honduras to serve the poor, only a year after the Missioners of Christ were formally established. A handful of us supported her prayerfully and financially to make this long-term calling of Carol?s a reality. It is amazing, in retrospect, to look at the work God has done through her over the past 15+ years. More than 1,200 individuals have participated in short term missions in Comayagua, Honduras.   Additionally, over 100 young missionaries, from the States, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico have served under Carol in Honduras for periods of three months to seven+ years, living in community in our John Paul II Center for Evangelization. Those who know Carol acknowledge that you cannot meet her and be unchanged.

Up until 2011, Carol served as a volunteer without a stipend. We covered her room and board, basic missionary health insurance, and a trip back to the United States each year. It was in 2011 that we were convinced that we needed to provide some form of compensation for Carol so that she had the ability to cover personal expenses, visit family, and the like.  She never asked for this, but we felt it was just to do so. This minimum wage salary was? and remains? unfunded. We have had to draw from different applicable funds as well as unrestricted donations to try to fund this salary.  Yet in evaluating our budget moving forward, the reality is that we cannot continue the proverbial ?robbing Peter to pay Paul? to make this happen.

Carol has demonstrated clearly that she is in this for the long-haul? further evidenced by her recent engagement in formation in spiritual direction so that she can better help the poor. Our desire is to assure a permanence for her role as Local Servant and leader in the MOC community.  We have calculated that to fund her position fully, providing a continued salary, a small quarterly contribution to a retirement fund, and a more comprehensive health care plan, it will cost about $2,000 monthly. Currently, Carol?s personal benefactors contribute about $400 each month.

I am asking you to consider becoming a monthly benefactor for Carol, so that we collectively can secure Carol?s role for the future, allowing her to focus on doing what she does best?giving herself fully to Christ in the person whom He has placed in front of her. We certainly are grateful for one time contributions, but in considering the long-term, we are hoping that enough people whom have benefited from knowing Carol will consider a monthly donation. Even as little as $15 a month from a collection of people will make a difference (though we are hoping some can give more). We realize that none of us know what the future holds, and even monthly contributors may have to make changes down the line.  That said, it is much easier to fill-the-gap each year when a few donor?s circumstances change, as opposed to starting from scratch each time the need becomes evident.

I do thank you for your time and your past support of Carol and the Missioners of Christ. May God continue to bless you and your family, and may His Blessed Mother place her mantle of protection about you and your loved ones.

I was born into a Catholic family, and since my childhood, I have loved going to church. I received all my sacraments and served as a catechist in my parish.
In 2012, I met the missionaries during a retreat they led for the First Communion children in my community. From that moment on, my life began to change profoundly. It was during a Eucharistic retreat that I experienced a true and personal encounter with the Lord. My frequent visits to the missionaries and participation in my first mission confirmed the call God had placed on my heart.
That same year, I began my formation process, and since 2013, I have been an internal missionary. For the past 12 years, I have dedicated my life to the service of God and the most in need, living in community and actively participating in missions and apostolates.
After these years of self-giving, the Lord has placed a deeper desire in my heart: to consecrate my life entirely to Him as a consecrated person. I have begun a process of discernment to embrace this vocation permanently, with the hope of serving in an even more dedicated and transformative way.
My greatest desire is for everyone to experience the healing and merciful love of our Father God. I want to be a living witness of all that He has done in my life and become an instrument of healing for others.
One of the greatest challenges I face on this missionary journey is encountering people each day who suffer in various ways—spiritually, physically, or materially. At times, I feel that simply praying for them is not enough, but I trust that God works even through the smallest acts of love.
On the other hand, one of my greatest joys is being able to share the love of Christ and bring hope to those who need it most. As the Gospel says in John 15:16: "It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain."
Today, I want to personally invite you to join me in this mission—through your prayers or with financial support. Any help, no matter how small, is of great value to me and to the mission.
Remember: our life is mission.

About Me
I'm from Cabañas, La Paz, Honduras. I met the Missioners in 2006 at a retreat called “Your Life is Mission” in my parish. What impacted me most was the joy that the missionaries conveyed. They truly reflected the love of Christ in a way that was real and authentic. A few years later, I began to learn more about them through retreats and visits, and in 2014 I was invited to live a mission experience in the mountains for a full week. It was a shocking, unique and extraordinary experience that changed my life. Faith, testimony, and the total dedication of the people touched my heart so much that I could no longer hide. That's when my call to the mission began, something that wasn't in my plans. I’ve currently been living in the mission for 6 years, serving full-time, and these have been the best years of my life. I have received more than I can give. The community is truly a gift. Here I found a family, a home, a place of encounter with myself and with God. Every day is a miracle, every day I discover something new.

My Vocation Process
God has called me to serve as a consecrated layperson in the community of Missionaries of Christ. After a long time of discernment, this year I have made the decision to begin the process of answering His call to give my life completely to God in a permanent vocation through the community. In this way I want to fulfill Jesus’ great commission to go and make disciples of all the nations, for the rest of my life.
By making the decision to answer this call, I accepted the fact that I would depend spiritually and financially on a mission team that would be the people God would put in my path. I recognize that I have not been called alone in this mission.
If you have come this far and feel called to be part of my team in prayer or financially and would like to know more details, it would be a blessing to be able to contact you to share this mission with you more thoroughly.
Thank you and God bless you. I'll be prayin

BELKIS GUEVARA

After my conversion retreat and graduating from college, I began serving in Youth Ministry—first in my parish, then at the diocesan level, and eventually on the national team. I was also blessed to serve for a year with the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in the Apostolate of Pure Heart. It was during that time that I began to feel a stronger call to give my life more completely as a missionary.
As a child, I used to say I wanted to travel the world and talk to people about God. Over time, for many reasons, that desire faded. But in 2017, a group of missionaries came to my parish to lead a retreat. During that retreat, two Scripture passages deeply marked my heart:
Acts 4:20 — “We cannot keep silent about what we have seen and heard.”
2 Timothy 2:2 — “What you have learned from me, confirmed by many witnesses, entrust to people who deserve confidence and who can then instruct others.”
At the end of the retreat, the missionaries invited those who felt called to missionary life to respond—and in that moment, the longing I had as a child was reawakened.
In 2019, during my year of service with Pure Heart, I traveled to Honduras for a mission. There, I had a profound encounter with Christ through the people I served that week. It was then that I sensed the Lord calling me to serve with the Missioners of Christ. I began praying for clarity, and during a Holy Hour, I asked the Lord for confirmation. In prayer, I heard Him say, “I want you in Honduras to love.”
I have now been a missionary for four years. The first lesson the Lord has taught me on this journey is to love the people I serve—so that through that love, they may come to experience the Father’s love. He has given me the grace to share the truths that have illuminated and transformed my own life, especially the teachings on the Theology of the Body by St. John Paul II.
One of the greatest challenges has been learning to love everyone. Living in community is not always easy. But the greatest joy has been to walk alongside brothers and sisters who support and encourage me. Above all, I have come to experience that Jesus is truly the center of our home, our lives, and everything we do. My life is mission. “I make all things new.” — Revelation 21:5
Have you ever considered becoming a missionary? Maybe your current circumstances don’t allow you to leave the country or participate in a mission experience—but did you know you can still be a missionary from right where you are?
You can pray for those of us who have dedicated our lives to full-time service. You can also offer financial support so that this mission can continue to grow and reach others.
Today, I invite you to support me—first through your prayers, and if you’re able, through a monthly donation.
Come, be part of the mission with me—from wherever you are.

For several years, I served as a volunteer in social projects and in an ecumenical organization, while also actively participating in the youth group of my local parish. Serving others became a fundamental part of my life. However, it was during a retreat called Bread of Life that I had a true encounter with Jesus. There, witnessing the testimony of the missionaries—especially during a mini vocational meeting where they presented missionary life—something was deeply ignited in my heart. I felt clearly that God was calling me.
Despite the difficulties I faced during my freshman year, the purpose of that call sustained me and encouraged me to keep saying "yes." Today, by His faithfulness, I have been a missionary for seven years.
One of the missions that has most marked my life has been Frassati Camp. It is my hope that this apostolate will continue to impact many more young people. The community that has formed around this camp is incredible, and I constantly feel how God continues to confirm this mission in my heart. He asks me for more dedication, more trust, and more love for this work.
One of the biggest challenges has been finding the balance between personal life and mission. Seeking resources has also been a true test—but it has become an opportunity to learn how to live by divine providence.
A moment that always fills me with joy is seeing what God does in the discipleship process with the youth at camp. It gives me life to witness how He transforms hearts through this mission.
I invite you to join me in prayer for this mission that God has entrusted to me, and for each of the young people who serve alongside us.
Verso l’alto.

KELYn ORELLANA

From Honduras
SUPPORT KELYN
I offered my service at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in the city of Comayagua, participating in various ministries such as children’s catechesis and youth group leadership. For three years, I also received formation at the School of Pastoral Care.
Jesus stirred in me a growing desire to follow Him in many ways. One experience, in particular, remains etched in my heart. While I was teaching catechesis to fifth-grade children, we were doing lectio divina on Luke 14:26. I asked them, “If God were to call you right now to follow Him, would you be willing to leave your family, your friends, and your school for Him?” They all said yes. I asked again, “Are you sure?”—and they affirmed even more strongly. Then, one child, with surprising authority, turned to me and asked, “And you, Kelyn, would you leave everything for Him?”
That question struck me like a dart. It deeply challenged me to consider God's call more seriously and respond generously. In that moment, through the voice of a child, God was speaking directly to me. Jesus was turning up the "publicity" of His invitation—to join His team of radical servants who break with worldly standards to live a life entirely for Him. I said to myself, “Well, I’ll give it a try and see what happens.”
I decided to spend two months during the summer living with the Missioners of Christ. While doing mission work in the mountains, the Lord conquered my heart even more. I encountered Him in the broken, the poor, and the weak—recognizing Him in the small and simple things of life. It was a life of simplicity, prayer, and service, immersed in the mystery of His Passion and Resurrection. This lifestyle filled me with heavenly delights I had never known before.
And after all of that… how could I say no to the Lord of hearts?
I’ve now been living this mission for a year and eight months. Prayer and service are what keep my heart beating for this calling. He is inviting me to live unreservedly as His beloved daughter, embraced by His fatherly kindness.
Community life has brought many challenges. At times, I’ve been tempted to give up—to choose pride over love. But the Lord has taught me that holiness is born in community. The more we bend down to wash the feet of others, the more we receive the grace of the Paschal Mystery within our own hearts. That is the joy of serving a crucified Christ: to die to ourselves in order to live in Him.
The passage of Luke 24:13–35 lit a fire in my heart. Christ met me on the road, explained the Scriptures, and gave me His life in the Eucharistic Bread. His Spirit compels me to share the joy of the Risen Friend—a joy that not even death can conquer.
This call to mission is not mine alone—it belongs to the Church. We are each called to live the Gospel according to our vocation, to share God’s love with everyone and for everyone.
If you feel called to collaborate with this mission, you can support me through your prayers or by offering financial assistance for my personal and pastoral needs.
God bless you!

Since childhood, I have always attended church, but my relationship with God was very superficial. Although I was physically present, my heart was not truly connected to Him.
In March 2023, after participating in a mission to which I was invited by missionaries, I experienced a very special grace from the Holy Spirit. In that moment, I felt a strong and clear call to become part of the community. God worked a miracle in my life—without that miracle, I would not have been able to join the community. It was a resounding confirmation that He wanted me there, and the grace I received marked my life forever.
Since then, I have served as a missionary for one year. I am part of the Men of Christ ministry and take part in missions in the mountains. During this time, I have experienced tremendous growth in my faith and in my relationship with God. He has helped me understand that He wants me to be a witness that He is the most important thing in our lives.
This radical change has not been easy. At first, I missed many things from my previous life, but I have found a new family in the community’s fraternities. Each person here has been a true gift in my life. I have shared many joyful moments with them and received countless blessings from God during missions.
Today, I am certain that only God can fill the emptiness of the human heart.
Let me know if you'd like this tailored for a specific purpose—such as a testimony for a website, a missionary newsletter, or a personal statement.

CLAUDIA MELGAR

SUPPORT CLAUDIA
My name is Claudia Corina Melgar Bonilla. I am from Honduras and I am 25 years old.
Since I was a little girl, I have attended church because it was close to home. I participated in vocational meetings and youth groups, which nurtured my faith from an early age.
In 2014, I met the missionaries for the first time. I remember joining them during their home visits, and I was deeply impacted by their commitment and the passion they showed for young people. At the end of that mission, I told one of the missionaries that someday I would like to become a missionary too. She gave me a small card that read, “To Claudia, future missionary.” That simple gesture stayed in my heart.
For a while, that missionary calling faded. But in 2022, during a Mass celebrated by Father Roger, a video was shown that rekindled that desire in me. I felt clearly that the longing to serve was still alive within me. I began searching for a way to participate in a mission. Around that time, I had an appointment in San Benito, and while I was there, I was invited to join the summer missions.
By then, I had completed my social service as a Nursing Assistant, and I felt that God was calling me to serve Him in a deeper way.
I have now been a missionary for almost two years. One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been accompanying young people—especially girls. I believe my personal story allows me to reach them with honesty, to support them in their healing process, just as God has healed my own life.
There have certainly been challenges—especially when I’ve had to give talks or share my testimony, as I used to be very shy and afraid of public speaking. But it has brought me great joy to see how the Lord has transformed my life. The very witness I once feared to share has now become a powerful testimony of His grace.
Lately, the book of Ephesians has been a source of strength and inspiration for me. I don’t have a specific verse, but the book as a whole has accompanied me in this season.
Currently, I am serving as an intern missionary for a period of two years. I serve in a ministry for young girls called Daughters of Mary, where I accompany young women between the ages of 16 and 21. I also collaborate as a Nursing Assistant at the San Benito José Medical Center, which is run by the Franciscan friars.
I would be deeply grateful for your support in this mission. Thank you, and blessings!

Since I was very young, I’ve loved God. I remember my first encounter with His love and powerful presence when I was eight years old in Assisi. That moment left a lasting mark on my heart.
In high school, I began to grow in a deeper relationship with the Lord—attending daily Mass more frequently and spending intentional time in personal prayer. During college, I experienced the joy of sharing my faith more regularly, helping others encounter the love, healing, and power of our Lord.
After graduating and spending a year teaching, everything culminated in a call to serve as a missionary in Honduras.
My missionary journey truly began at Damascus Catholic Youth Summer Camp, where the fire for mission was first lit in my heart. A pivotal moment in my discernment came when I heard the Lord speak clearly: “There are people to love in Honduras.”
While I’ve been walking with the Lord since my baptism :), I officially stepped into mission life nearly two years ago.
At the heart of my mission is a simple desire: to listen and receive from God's heart, and then to share and act as the Holy Spirit leads. Some words that capture this season of my life are: healing, relationship, maturity, consistency, and worship.
One particularly challenging moment occurred during a house visit. The situation was deeply painful, and I felt so inadequate—like I wasn’t enough to truly minister to the family. In moments like that, all I can do is run to the foot of the tabernacle and trust Jesus to take care of everything.
Yet, there have been many joyful moments too—like climbing mountains with young people and witnessing to them about the Lord.
Here are a few quotes that deeply inspire my mission:
  • “Voy a pasar mi cielo haciendo el bien en la tierra.” – St. Thérèse of Lisieux
  • “Que nadie venga a ti sin irse mejor y más feliz.” – St. Teresa of Calcutta
  • “Jesús hace nuevas todas las cosas.” – Revelation
  • “Si somos lo que estamos llamados a ser, prenderemos fuego al mundo entero.” – St. Catherine of Siena
A verse I carry with me is Isaiah 61:1–2:
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD.”
At the moment, I’m not in need of more financial support—but please keep me in your prayers!

SUPPORT ANGEL
My name is Ángel Jonhatan Ulloa. I am 22 years old and from Honduras. I have been Catholic since birth and have been blessed to serve in various areas within the Church. I have worked with young people, participated in the Charismatic Renewal, and served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Each of these experiences has helped me grow in my faith and draw closer to God.
One of the most important moments in my journey was the "Tree of Life" retreat. After that retreat, I felt a deep desire to remain in that space of encounter with the Lord. I had two projects in my heart: one was to join a missionary community, and the other was to pursue a different path. I entrusted both to God. Shortly afterward, the other project fell through, and I took that as a clear answer from Him—He was calling me to the missionary life.
Since then, I have been serving as a missionary for six months. I do this to serve others, to grow closer to God, and to remain available and willing to follow Him with great trust, always seeking to do His will. The road has not been easy—ministry work has brought many challenges—but it has also been filled with moments of deep joy: in fraternity, in sharing with my brothers, and in every mission. Many times, when we arrive at a home, we encounter a joy that only God can give.
A Bible verse that always accompanies me is Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Today, I want to share something with you: I currently do not have the financial resources to continue in this mission. If it is in your heart to support me, I would be deeply grateful. Any help is welcome.
May God bless you always.

My name is Claudio Paolo Sangama Tello. Since 2016, I have been actively involved in my parish, participating in youth groups, missions, and serving as a catechist.
In 2022, I felt a deeper call to mission. As young people and families came to serve, I supported them in various projects and home visits. One experience that left a profound impact on me was when we went on mission to some of the most remote villages. There, I encountered people who were humble and simple, and in their faces, I saw the love of God.
For years, I had felt the call to be a missionary. So when I was invited to join this mission, I didn't hesitate. I responded with conviction: “Yes, I want to be part of the Missionaries of Christ.”
This is my first year in mission—I’ve been walking this path for only two months. The heart of my mission is to reach out to those most in need, to share with them, and to learn from their deep and genuine faith. In this stage of my life, I feel God inviting me to become more humble and simple, and to allow Him to heal all my wounds.
A moment of great joy for me is going on mission to the villages and meeting the people. Through them, I see God. They are so generous and kind—they give everything, even from their poverty.
I know I’m not capable of doing great things, but as St. Dominic Savio once said, “I want to do everything, even the smallest things, for the greater glory of God.”
I’m Paolo, from Peru. I am a Missionary of Christ.
I ask for your prayers—that I may grow in faith and be healed. I also want to help the people in the villages by bringing them a little food and care. For that, I need financial support to reach them.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God bless you.

For several years in Peru, I supported the missionaries of the Family Mission Company and led a youth group called "Las Alturas." When the first FMC missionaries invited me to join their ministries, I was overjoyed to be able to bring a smile to people's faces and witness the importance of living a vibrant faith and maintaining a strong relationship with God.
I have been a missionary for 10 years, although I have been with the Missionaries of Christ for only 2 months. This time has helped me develop a closer relationship with God and heal my spiritual wounds, which has strengthened my living faith.
One challenge I faced was knowing that my family was going through health and financial difficulties, which affected me emotionally. However, I was very happy to feel the community’s support through their prayers and encouragement.
As Luke 10:23-25 says, Jesus said to the people,
“If anyone wants to follow me, let him deny himself, take up his daily cross, and follow me. I tell you, whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or diminish himself?”
Hello, how are you? I hope all is well with you.
I want to share with you this great opportunity I am living right now: I am currently part of the Missionaries of Christ community, and I invite you to join me in this mission in two ways:
  • Please pray for me to continue doing the Lord’s will.
  • Support me financially with my basic needs during my time here in Honduras.

VARGAS FAMILY

Thank you all for taking the time to read about our family and our discernment to missionary life. The call to our missionary work started when Miesha was invited to spend a week in Honduras in 2009 by our friend Andrew. At that time, there was political unrest in Honduras and the one-week mission was no longer available. The only other option was a mid-term months-long mission with the community.

That time in Honduras left an indelible mark on Miesha. Within a few years, Miesha and I got married, had four kids in five years, moved two different times, and held a couple of different jobs. Throughout those first eleven years of marriage, Miesha’s desire to return to Honduras stayed in her heart. However, hearing about Miesha’s time in Honduras also sparked a desire to serve in my heart as well.
We served on our first family mission in June of 2021. We returned again in 2022 as family for a few weeks and that is really when Miesha and I started discerning if the Lord was calling us to mission life. Over the next three years, we have had ups and downs in answering this calling in our hearts. During this time, we added Bruno to the family and he is such a blessing! Again, this little voice was still present, and we tried to ignore it and push it aside. Which happens, when we don’t take the time to listen to our calling and lean on God’s Providence. Then, in the fall of 2024, I had an unexpected change in jobs and recalled a verse that was very impactful to me, “…the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” Job 1:21. This was our Lord saying, “what you value, is not what I value.” God wants us to bless Him in the good and the difficult.
Now, after three years of prayer and discernment, we are starting our “yes” to the Lord. We are asking Him to do with us what He wills. We are happy to have the support of family and friends that are praying for us and supporting us in many ways. St. Mother Theresa said, “some give by going, some go by giving.” We hope that you can support us for the next two years while we work alongside the Missioners of Christ in Comayagua starting in the fall of 2025!
