Honduras ministry

lOCAL MINISTRY

FAITH & WORK

SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

The program serves the children and youth of Honduras and is unique in its focus on discipleship - not only teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, but also teaching participants how to teach and evangelize others in their country. We begin by ensuring the basic needs of each participant are met, then progress to education, general social services, catechesis and active discipleship.  As a sponsor you are able to truly accompany your child as a "spiritual parent" through prayer, material support, and personal letters.

PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM

The Santa Margarita program is a holistic therapy program designed to give hope and dignity to disabled children and their families. Our patients include children and young adults with a range of physical and sometimes mental disabilities.  Without access to basic health care, our patients have needlessly suffered from often easily preventable health issues. Santa Margarita offers patients hope by providing not only physical therapy treatments, but seeking to meet mental and spiritual needs of patients and their families as well.

HOMBRES DE CRISTO

we are forming in what it means to be a man of faith and virtue. Our goal is to equip them to be leaders in their schools and neighborhoods who can lead others to faith and inspire them to be good, faithful men. We have weekly meetings that include sports, prayer, games, talks, and small groups, and we had several hikes and adventures outside the city.

programa de madres

The Mothers program, “Una Luz de Esperanza”, is a comprehensive program for mothers in our neighborhood. The program is held weekly with the aim of providing them with accompaniment, fostering spaces of encounter with Christ in prayer and also in sharing with each other, to heal their wounds, train their intellect and create leadership that helps them develop in their daily lives and restore their dignity.

ORPHANAGE

We serve in the 3 orphanages of Hogar Nazareth: one for girls, one for boys, and one for special needs girls. We seek to help them heal from wounds experienced from difficult family situations, have deeper personal encounters with God, and prepare them to be able to leave and live successful lives as virtuous leaders and role models.

HOUSE VISITS

House visits are a big part of our ministry. We visit different families in our neighborhood to spend time, listen to their stories, hear their needs, pray for them, and see if there are any ways we can assist them.

Testimonies

MOTHERS PROGRAM TESTIMONY

Jenny has three children who always attended the group with her. One day she asked her son Fernando what was his greatest wish, and he responded instantly, “I want my parents to get married, for my father to attend church. We pray at night that God will give him the desire to do it. " During the quarantine they began to pray for that intention, and the Lord answered his prayers. They got married a few months ago. Jenny shared with us that her greatest desire was to receive the body of Christ in the Eucharist and to be able to be a witness for her children. God is faithful and once again we are witnesses of something great and extraordinary. Nothing is impossible for God.

house visits testimony

We recently visited the home of a family who had lost their 18 year old son. Just that morning, the father had been crying out to God in desperation, and asking for a sign that God was still with him. A few of us showed up a few minutes later, and the father told us through tears that God had sent us there just at the right moment to answer his prayer. Even without doing anything, God was able to use our mere presence to bring hope to a hurting family.
